Droopy eyelid causes and treatments | Ohio State Medical Center

We often see patients coming in with
complaints of droopy eyelids. Droopy eyelids can be due to an excess of skin,
it can be due to the muscle of the eyelid, either becoming stretched out or it’s not working normally. Droopy eyelids can also be due to the eyebrows
becoming droopy. The eyebrows are like the curtains to the eyelids and so one
of our first tasks is determining what is causing the droopy eyelid for the
patient. When we evaluate these patients we often perform testing that also helps
us to determine if surgery for their droopy eyelids is medically necessary.
And even if it’s not considered medically necessary, we can still help
these patients address their cosmetic concerns in improving the appearance of
their eyelids.
